Amy Pope Fitzgerald Won’t Let Lyme Disease Keep Her Down
Amy Pope Fitzgerald is a busy woman, but she manages to find ways to run even with everything else going on in her life.

Amy Pope Fitzgerald
She didn’t start running longer distances until she was 40 and after dealing with the painful effects of Lyme Disease. But since taking up the sport she has made up for lost time.
She now views running as an antibiotic of sorts, and has no plans of slowing down any time soon. We covered a variety of topics on our conversation today, and here are some of the highlights of our chat.
- Her body’s ability to bounce back from long runs
- Her first experience with running an ultra distance race
- The importance of a good crew for an ultra, especially your first one!
- Running a long race with mostly cross training in preparation
- The impact that Lyme Disease has had on her life
- What to do if you have some of the symptoms of Lyme Disease, even if you test negative
- Her experiences running the Dopey Challenge each of the past 2 years
If you want to connect with Amy, check out her blog, follow her Facebook Page, follow her on twitter and instagram. And if you want to contribute to her efforts to help defeat Lyme Disease, you can contribute to that as well.

Both the Facebook group and the email group provide opportunities that can’t be found anywhere else.
The Facebook group is still small, but it is a great way to connect with fellow runners and foster community amongst like minded individuals. The email group is THE way to stay up to date about future guests on the show, as well as getting some other freebies and offers that aren’t available to anyone else.
If you’ve got questions about either/both, just let me know!
