Dave Metrick May Be Reluctant About Running, But Definitely Not About Beer

Today I’m joining Dave Metrick for a few easy miles and hopefully a pint after said miles.

When I stumbled upon Dave’s twitter profile, I knew I had to reach out to him. He describes himself as having a “love/hate relationship with running and a love/love relationship with beer”.

Clearly, that was all I needed to hear to assume we would have a good chat, and we did.

We had a fun chat covering his “reluctancy” when it comes to running, planning race-cations, pet peeves regarding members of the running community, beer, and a whole lot more.

Here are some of the highlights of my chat with Dave Metrick

  • The pomp and circumstance of a race keeps him coming back
  • Consistently combining racing and a vacation
  • Possibly going farther than a half, but no chance of running a full
  • His series of posts about Running Pet Peeves
  • An unexpected PR after a run streak
  • His love of beer and preferred flavors
  • A Beer Run “adventure”

I would definitely encourage you to check out Dave’s website at RunningReluctant.com. You can also say hi to him on Instagram and Twitter.

I really enjoyed listening to your podcast with Dave! He was fun to listen and I liked his approach to life. I think he said at one point, “everything in moderation”. While I may not adhere to that approach exactly, I think it is a good one to strive for.
