QT: Are Your Running Priorities/Goals Changing? That’s OK! (Best Of-ish)

Fair enough.

If you’re the kind of person that isn’t a fan of making major changes to your priorities, I have a bit of bad news for you: sometimes you have no choice but to change course.

Sorry.

Play the Cards You are Dealt

Our priorities, or at least our running priorities, are typically set around the sport that we love.

  • Maybe you have a goal race in mind in which you want to perform exceptionally well.
  • Maybe you are looking forward to running your first race at a new distance.
  • Perhaps you simply want to make it through a training block uninjured and prepared for your race.

Whatever your goals and priorities in the sport are, there are times when you have no choice but to shift gears and move in a different direction.

Changing Your Priorities Doesn’t Have to Be Forever

If there is a silver lining to all of this, it is the fact that changing your priorities in the present doesn’t mean you have to change your priorities forever.

Life gets in the way of our plans sometimes, and when it does you have to adjust your priorities.

And that is ok.

Change your focus now, and if you want to come back to your original priorities down the road, you can. But you don’t have to.

But you don’t have to.
