Jasmine Tracey Found Running and Changed Her Life

Today I am running a few easy miles with Jasmine Tracey.

Jasmine describes herself as a “pixie-haired, tattooed, social introvert, Domestic Goddess that is originally from Chicago. I traded in my party girl high heels for running shoes years ago and my life since then has changed for the better!”
If that doesn’t sound like a good podcast interview right there, I don’t know what does!

Wrestling With Your Ugly

When running long distances the “ugly” will almost always come out.
Your “ugly” may be physical, mental, or both, but if you run long enough you will undoubtedly encounter it along the way.
If you can find a running partner that is able to help motivate you, that can be the key to getting through those “ugly” times in your  run or race.

Jasmine shared a story about a time running with her now husband and the harsh, but motivating, words that she needed to hear to finish a particular race.

 Life Changing Trails

After relocating from Chicago to Florida, Jasmine sort of stumbled onto the running scene.
With a string of trails located across the street from her house, Jasmine began running. And in time, she began to really enjoy the sport and became an active part of the local running community.
The running friends she made really laid the foundation for a more intentional style of running and training, and that was enough to get Jasmine hooked on racing.

Like many of us, Jasmine has struggled with comparing herself to other runners.
Jasmine has tried to become more focused on herself, instead of worrying about what others around her are doing.
By creating, as she calls it, a “positivity bubble” Jasmine has been able to stay honest with herself and her own physical limits.
Instead of focusing on what other runners are doing in their training, Jasmine has learned to worry only about what she needs to do to prepare for her next race.

And that is something we all would do well to remember.
