Kari Gormley is Creating a Way of Life for the Long Run

My guest on the show today is joining me for a little Round 2 action today.

Kari Gormley first appeared on my show almost 3 and a half years ago.

Kari Gormley

In that time many changes have occurred in her running life and podcast.

Podcast Vs. Personal Goals

Kari first launched her podcast, “The Running Lifestyle Show,” in 2014.

Since then the show has evolved and grown.

The rapid growth has been mostly positive, but she has experienced some pitfalls as well.

Kari is fully invested in helping her podcast succeed, but in doing so she hasn’t always listened to the signals her body was sending.

She trained and completed multiple marathons in quick succession due to influences surrounding her podcast.

The result of not listening to her body was an injury.

Her PT gave her the advice she needed to hear, “Stop doing things for your podcast and listen to your body.”

Creating a Way of Life For the Long Run

Running has a way of allowing people to push their limits and see what is possible.

A goal may be possible but at what cost?

Before setting a goal ask yourself some questions:

  • Why do you want this goal?
  • What’s the outcome if you achieve it?
  • What obstacles might you encounter?
  • Have a PLAN

Kari is intent on preserving her body for longevity in the sport.

Currently, she is recovering from a concussion and unable to run.

The forced running break is allowing her to focus on areas she sometimes neglects: yoga and strength.

The growth of her podcast has allowed Kari to explore her curiosity and connect with guests on various topics.
