Kyle Curtin is Newish to Ultramarathoning, but He’s Killing it!
Kyle Curtin is flying under the radar in the ultra marathon scene, but if he keeps winning races he won’t be able to lurk in the shadows much longer.

Kyle Curtin
He made his debut in the ultra world running the Ozark 100, and did just about everything wrong. But he finished it, and the next year came back for more. And the rest, as they say, is history. We go in depth about a couple of his races, talk about his future as he prepared to leave the Army, and figure out when he is going to run his next ultra. Here are some of the highlights:
- His first ultra was a 100-miler, and he had no idea what to expect!
- The thrill of winning a 100-mile race.
- Getting ready to spend a chunk of the summer hiking the Appalachian Trail with his dad.
- Taking a break from 100-milers after his most recent race.
- How difficult the Hurt 100 is, both mentally and physically.
- His strategies to avoid going out too fast.
- Racing ultras is not as physically challenging as the mental aspect.

Both the Facebook group and the email group provide opportunities that can’t be found anywhere else.
The Facebook group is still small, but it is a great way to connect with fellow runners and foster community amongst like minded individuals. The email group is THE way to stay up to date about future guests on the show, as well as getting some other freebies and offers that aren’t available to anyone else.
If you’ve got questions about either/both, just let me know!
Great discussion! He doesn’t sound crazy at all even though we know different. I didn’t know he was trying to drop me but it sure felt like it going up Nuuanu. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for listening Paul! Kids can be tricky sometimes, no doubt about that. Hope you enjoy your retirement, and that you and Kyle have a great time on the AT!
