Quick Tip-A Word of Advice, You Need to Listen to Your Body
When is the last time you actually took a minute to listen to your body?
And for the record, I don’t mean the voice in your head or your (possibly) guilty conscious? (cue Eminem and Dr. Dre)
What I mean is actually listening to what your body is trying to tell you when it comes to running. What are you feet saying to you? Your knees? Your legs? Your whole body?
I’m sure most of us have had an instance where one part of our bodies was really barking at us, but if you slow down and really listen to your body you’ll be amazed at what it’s trying to tell you.

Why Do You Need to Listen to Your Body?
Runners are Terrible Listeners
When was the last time you heard a fellow runners say something along the lines of “My knee is bugging me a little bit, but I bet it’ll loosen up during today’s run.”
I’m guessing it hasn’t been that long.
How long has it been since you’ve said something like that?
Your Body is Trying to Tell You Something
Look, I’m as guilty as anyone, but when “something is bugging you/doesn’t feel right” that is your body’s way of telling you something is wrong.
If you continue to ignore your body long enough, and continue to run, eventually something is going to break down.
Runners are notorious for getting injured at some point during their running careers, and the vast majority of time those injuries started out as something small that progressively got worse over several weeks/months.
But if we are willing to look back honestly, almost every time our bodies were trying to tell us that something was wrong, and we simply ignored it.
Listen to Your Body
So stop ignoring what your body is trying to tell you, or it will be forced to track dramatic action.

Don’t Listen to Your Body? It’ll Get Your Attention Eventually!
Our bodies do a great job of telling us to ease off the gas, take a little break, or just go to bed earlier so it can make the necessary repairs for us to run farther/faster.
We do a terrible job of listening.
It’s up to us to change that.
