Marnie Kunz Blends Her Love for Art and Running Beautifully

Today I’m going a few easy miles with Marnie Kunz.

Marnie Kunz, Founder of RunStreet

Marnie is the founder of RunStreet, and as such she’s a “tour guide” for runners to check out some great street art in New York City.

Honestly, that has to be one of the coolest jobs ever!

Long Races or Short: Apples and Oranges?

Marnie has run a variety of distances in her time as a runner, but the mile is definitely her favorite.

And being that she’s in New York City, there are a few different options for officially racing the mile each year.

While Marnie is a fan of going hard and being finished quickly, I’m a bit of the opposite (as you well know by now).

That said, we got into quite the discussion about long races and short races, specifically the amount of pain you experience while running hard for a few minutes (mile or 5k) vs running moderately hard for a few hours (half, full, ultra).

At the end of the day, we pretty much agreed that you really can’t compare a long race to a short race any more than you can compare apples to oranges.

For us as runners, it simply comes down to personal preference.

Combining a Love for Running and Artistry

While running in NYC over the years, Marnie has seen a large variety of examples of street art in the various parts of the city.

And like much of the city, the art scene in New York is always changing and evolving.

Marnie created RunStreet as a way to showcase the amazing murals and other pieces of art in New York City by leading tours of runners to see the different pieces of art that are showcased within the city.

A Beautiful Street Art Mural

Wow.

The next time you’re in NYC, for any reason, make sure you check out a RunStreet tour.

Safe to say, you’ll be quite impressed!
