When a running adventure sounds ridiculous, Nikki Love starts thinking of something even more epic in order to make the ridiculous sound more doable.
But doable to whom?
One of the more recent ridiculous adventures that Nikki found herself on was called the Jungle Ultra, and is put on my a company called Beyond the Ultimate.
This race took place in the rainforest of Peru, and lasted 5 days and covered over 230k.
As if that doesn’t sound crazy enough, over those 5 days Nikki faced several wildlife encounters (snakes, jaguars, cayman-oh my!), struggles with altitude, the demands of being entirely self-sufficient, and other factors that make me think I’ll stick to running on the roads!
While Jungle Ultra may not be for me, it definitely is for Nikki and she will be doing another Beyond the Ultimate adventure in 2017 in the Namibian desert.
Back in 2010 after reading about Dean Karnazes running 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days, Nikki was inspired to try running several consecutive marathons.
She “settled” on running 7 marathons in 7 days, culminating with the London marathon.
To me, that’s pretty damn impressive. To Nikki, that was (and is) just the beginning…
In 2017, Nikki is setting out to set a new world record by running 63 marathon in 63 days.
63. As in 9 consecutive weeks of running 26.2 miles.
Every. Single. Day.
