Nora Bird is Going Off-Road in 2016 & Running the Leadville 100, Because Why Not?
On today’s show, I’m going a few easy miles with Nora Bird.

Nora Bird
When Nora got into running, she definitely jumped into the deep end! We talked about her foray into our sport, and how she quickly went from training for her first half marathon to running her first ultra. And in addition to quickly increasing her race distances, she did it all while life was going crazy at the same time.
We also talked about her experience running Boston in 2013 and it’s clear that those wounds are still real for her. Thankfully she wasn’t injured physically when the bombs went off, but the emotional wounds are still healing.
Here are some of the highlights from my chat with Nora Bird.
- The reasons she prefers road ultras over trails
- Pretty much hooked on running from the start
- Her experience with running Boston in 2013
- The logistical challenges of big races
- Entering the lottery for Leadville, because why not?
- A passion for baking, but doesn’t have a big sweet tooth
- Working with Girls on the Run
- Looking forward to the future

There’s always room for more members of the tribe!
Both the Facebook group and the email group provide opportunities that can’t be found anywhere else.
The Facebook group is still small, but it is a great way to connect with fellow runners and foster community amongst like minded individuals. The email group is THE way to stay up to date about future guests on the show, as well as getting some other freebies and offers that aren’t available to anyone else.
If you’ve got questions about either/both, just let me know!
My take away – I love that she is following her dreams and passions. She seems to have an understanding that life is short and precious. Also, love that we share the same view about running – that missing one run won’t make or break you, that it’s supposed to be for fun – that we run to feed our souls, not our family. Best of luck, Nora.
