Dealing With Running Aches and Pains (with Video)

No matter how you slice it, running aches and pains are an inevitability for runners. (Note I said aches and pains, not running injuries like plantar fasciitis which is totally preventable!)

The way that you respond to those aches and pains goes a long way to either minimizing the discomfort  you’re dealing with or prolonging it.

So what is the proper response?

Most of the time, ice is the best first course of action, for reasons that I’m explaining in today’s video.

And if you want the recipe to make your own reusable ice pack, I’m happy to send it to you. Fill in your best email address, and the recipe will be sent to you ASAP!

I read this with a bag of ice on my ankle. Rolled it while running today. The two things I remember from our first year in the Athletic Training program: P.E.T.T. and R.I.C.E. I’m gonna look up your recipe now. Thanks Diz.
