Tom Leddy Started Running to Impress His Boss–Seriously!

Tom Leddy is someone that I can learn quite a bit from in my pursuit of some of my bigger running (and non-running) goals.

Tom got into running in one of the most unique ways I’ve ever heard: to impress his boss!

Tom’s boss was a runner, and he was invited to join the boss for a few miles at lunchtime. Tom accepted, and it didn’t take long for him to feel worn out. But he stuck with it, and soon he was hooked.

Racing and Traveling

Tom has some big goals in terms of running and racing, including running a half in all 50 states and running a marathon on each continent. Read more

Paul and I have a similar goal, to travel around the United States and run races in each state. Paul’s goal is definitely more noble than mine, however, in that he is looking to run each of his races to benefit a different charity.

Back in his younger days, Paul ran in school and was the captain of his cross country team in high school. But after that, life got hectic and eventually he hadn’t run in 20+ years before getting back to the sport a few years ago.

I Got a Fever! And the Only Prescription…

Finally!

I’ve been waiting for next weekend for a while now, and it’s finally less than a week away. Next weekend, I’ll be flying out to Kansas City for the wedding of my wife’s best friend, and to run my next marathon!

I’m excited for the bride and groom, but let’s be serious–I’ve got a terrible case of race fever!

While it’s been just over a month since I ran the Aching Quad series, and I did run the Watermelon series this summer, I haven’t run a long race since February. A long summer of long runs in the Florida heat has gotten old, but I’m finally ready for the payoff!
