Andy Farina Keeps Putting One Foot in Front of the Other

Andy Farina Was Twice Told He’d Likely Never Run Again…

Andy Farina doesn’t like to be told that he can’t do something that he enjoys doing.

At birth, doctors wondered if he’d be able to walk. Several years down the road, after a back injury there he was told he’d never be able to run again.

Yeah, about that…

Jacob Puzey

Jacob Puzey Has Seen the Value of His Hard Work First Hand

On today’s episode of the show, I’m joining elite ultra distance runner Jacob Puzey for a few easy miles.

Jacob is definitely a beast in the ultra world, feeling most comfortable in races lasting from 2-6 hours. And his results speak for themselves, with several wins and course records to his name.

Unlike a lot of the elites that I’ve talked to, Jacob wasn’t one of the best runners as a kid. In fact, during his first cross country season his goal was to be able to finish a 3k race without having to stop and walk. But he kept working hard, and eventually his hard work started to pay off.

Shoe Review: The Altra Instinct 3.5 (with Video)

I have a long relationship the Altra Instinct running shoes.

My first pair of Altra’s were the Original Instincts, the 1.0s, and I LOVED those shoes!

Altra Instinct 1.0

I Was a “Little” Excited to Get My 2nd Pair of 1.0s

I kept buying them until my size was no longer available, and I still have a pair that only has a few hundred miles of wear that I put on for a short run from time to time.

When I could no longer get my hands on a pair of the originals, I made the move to a newer (at the time) model of my beloved shoe, the Instinct 2.0. And let’s just say that I wasn’t fond of the updates that had been made to the original model.

So now, after a couple of years away from my beloved Instincts and lots of good reports from my fellow Altra Ambassadors, I decided to give the newest iteration a shot.

The Good, the Bad, & the TBD of the Altra Instinct 3.5

Doug Pfeffer Loves Running Now That He Doesn’t Have to Do It

Doug Pfeffer has found running to be fun now that it was no longer part of his job.

Learning to run with better form, and without pain, didn’t hurt either!

After a 24 year career in the Army, Doug Pfeffer was told he’d never be able to run again because of pain in his knees.

But now that he’s found a way to run pain free and no longer “has” to run, running and racing has become a definite passion of his.

During our chat today, we talked about his transition out of the military and how Team RWB helped him get into running, his 2016 schedule (which is CRAZY!),

Here are some of the highlights of our chat:

A Shoe Review: The Altra Provision 2.0

The Altra Provision 2.0 is a solid shoe, but if you’re a fan of the Provision 1.5 you may be disappointed.

The newest version of the Provision is noticeably thicker in the sole of the shoe, and for someone that prefers less cushioning, that was a bit of a disappointment.

Though to be fair, the Altra Provision 2.0 is labeled as a moderately cushioned shoe (which I point out in the video), so I’m not sure that Altra deserves a lot of blame here. However, the Provision 1.5 was also labeled as a moderately cushioned shoe, so…

That said, if you don’t mind a little bit of foam under your feet, the Altra Provision 2.0 definitely provides a smooth ride while still staying true to the Altra selling points: foot shaped toe box and zero heel drop.

I’ve already put a few hundred miles on my 2.0s, and I’d estimate I’ve still got a few hundred to go before this pair will need to be replaced, so durability is definitely not an issue.

Check out the video for more details about my experience in the Altra Provision 2.0s, as well as to hear my overall grade of the shoe.
