Lint Bunting Finds 100 Mile Races a Nice Alternative to Thru Hiking

On today’s episode, I’m joining Lint Bunting for less of a run and more of a hike. So we will see how this goes!

Lint is “new” to racing as a runner, but he is very experienced as a thru-hiker having hiked thousands of miles in the past several years on some of the best trails in the United States.

When you think about hiking, you probably aren’t thinking about what Lint does. Lint is an ultra-light hiker, meaning his aim is to take as little amount of gear with him as possible. He’s got his pack down to weighing less than 8 lbs, not counting food and water, and that pack contains all of the things that he needs for weeks spent out on the trail.

Here is a video for a television spot that featured Lint and his ultra-light hiking.

This summer, Lint completed the triple-triple crown of United States thru-hiking. It is thought that he was one of 3 people to ever hike the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, and the Continental Divide Trail three times each.

We covered all this and more on our “hike” today, and here are some of the highlights of our chat. Read more

Shoe Review: The Altra Superior 2.0 (with Video)

Once I decided I was going to run regularly on the trails here in town, I knew that meant I was going to have to get a pair of trail running shoes as well.

As an Altra Ambassador, and just a huge fan of all things Altra anyway, it didn’t take me long to decide that the Altra Superior 2.0 was the shoe I was going to try.

And after the first run, I knew it was the right choice.

In this video, I’ll be talking about what makes this a great shoe, some of the positives of the shoe that I’ve experienced first hand to this point, as well as bring up a couple of questions/concerns that I still have about the Altra Superior 2.0.

***FTC Notice: As an Altra Ambassador, I received 2 free pairs of shoes from the company. Offering an honest shoe review is not required as an ambassador, and nothing stated or implied in this post/video has been influenced by anyone from Altra in any way. All opinions expressed in this post are completely my own.

Altra One 2.5 Review

A Review of the Altra One 2.5 Running Shoes (with Video)

It’s not a big secret around these parts that I’m a fan of the the Altra Running company.

I’m in my 2nd year as a Brand Ambassador, and I’ve been raving about their shoes on this blog for a few years now. (Seriously!)

Today, I’m offering a quick review of my newest pair of kicks, the Altra One 2.5.

These shoes are pretty amazing, if you’re into light weight, flexible, zero-drop shoes.

In this review, I’ll touch on the comfort factor, the traditional Altra features, and the one thing that I think Altra missed the boat on with this shoe.

Brandon Yonke

Brandon Yonke Has a Bright Future in Ultra Running

Brandon Yonke has done some things before graduating college that most college students, at least the ones I know, would never even dream of doing in their lifetimes.

Brandon has found a love for ultra running at such a young age, and he is already making a name for himself by wining and placing in many of the events that he has run. He’s also finished an ironman, run several marathons, and just recently completed his first 100-mile race.

And just recently, he came home from an running trip that is an experience he will likely never forget-running the Great Wall of China marathon.
