Angela Barraco Running with Team for Kids

Angela Barraco is a Runner in Denial, but She’s Not Fooling Anyone!

Angela Barraco didn’t think of herself as a runner after running her first marathon, but as much as she may want to deny it she clearly is a runner at this point in her life!

An Accidental Marathoner

Angela ran her first marathon by accident, or more accurately, signed up for her first marathon by accident.

After college, Angela was looking for ways to be more active on a regular basis, so she signed up for a half marathon. She figured that since she had paid the money already, she’d be motivated to do the training.

She did, and she loved it!

After that first half marathon, Angela heard about the NYC half and she decided to sign up.

Registration was closed, but charity spots were open, so she figured what the heck.

One thing led to another, and she got the confirmation: Congratulations! You’re Registered for the NYC Marathon!

Bill Culver Got Bit by the Running Bug in a Serious Way

When he signed up for his first 5k, Bill Culver had no idea what he was getting himself into.

A little over a year later, he has run a lot of races, a lot of miles, and learned a lot of lessons about himself and about running in the process. While some of those lessons have been a little bit painful, both literally and figuratively, he is looking forward to using the knowledge and experiences of 2014 to help him continue to grow and improve as a runner in 2015.

What They Don’t Tell You About WDW Marathon Weekend

I can still remember back to 2010, the year I ran my first runDisney race–the full marathon during the WDW Marathon Weekend.

I remember going to the expo, feeling completely lost but eventually finding my way to get my bib and race shirt, before literally reading every word that was written about what to do on the morning of the race.

After running the race, however, I realized there were quite a few things that they didn’t tell me about making the most of out of the WDW Marathon Weekend and some of what they did say was complete BS.

I’m taking this year’s WDW Marathon Weekend off, but having run either the full or the half in each of the past 4 years, I’ve got a pretty good handle on what one needs to do in order to successfully navigate the expo, get to the starting line, finish the race, and enjoy the parks afterward.

If you’re running any of the WDW Marathon Weekend races this year, I hope this helps and that you have a great race.

And if you’re running the full on Sunday, there’s a pretty good chance I’ll be watching outside of the Studios. Look for the beard and make sure to say hi!
