How to Successfully Meet Your Expectations, Running or Otherwise

“Don’t Lower Your Expectations to Meet Your Performance. Raise Your Level of Performance to Meet Your Expectations.”

~Ralph Marston

What running goals do you have for yourself that you’re struggling to meet?

I’ve made no secret about my desire to qualify for and run in the Boston Marathon.

Admittedly I’m still a good bit slower than I’ll need to be to qualify for the race, but I absolutely expect that I will qualify for Boston.

Feeling Unprepared Before a Race?

Quick Tip: Feeling Unprepared Before a Race

If you’ve run enough races, and run them with a specific time goal in mind, you may have felt unprepared before a race began.

Lord knows I’ve don’t that more than a few times.

How does this happen? But more importantly, when you are feeling unprepared before a race how do you react when the race starts?

Feeling Unprepared Before a Race?

Feeling Unprepared Before a Race?

I’ve headed to the starting line feeling completely unprepared too many times, yet I’ve been able to run some great times (for me) at those same events.

So what gives?

How can you convince yourself to still run, and potentially run very well, when you’re feeling unprepared before the start of a race.

Letting Go of My Goal to Post Daily in 2015:A Failed Resolution

At the beginning of the year, I set a goal/New Year’s Resolution of posting new content on the site every day in 2015.

I knew at the time that perfection would be difficult, but I figured I’d do my best and hopefully only miss a handful of days.

Halfway point of 2015

Don’t Look Now, But It’s Already the Halfway Point of 2015!

Making resolutions/goals in the first week of January is one thing, but looking back on them multiple times throughout the year, gauging progress, and adjusting as necessary is extremely important.

At least if you want to stay on track, meet your goals, and not keep making the same resolutions year after year.

So how am I doing on my goals for 2015? Let’s take a look at where I stand at the halfway point of 2015.

12 Reasons I Can’t Wait to Run the Boston Marathon

With all due respect to the NASCAR fans out there, tomorrow is the true day of the Great American Race.

Boston Marathon

The 119th running of the Boston Marathon is less than 24 hours away, and for the 119th consecutive year I won’t be taking part in the race.

Eventually, come hell or high water, that streak will be coming to an end and I will be toeing the line for the Boston Marathon. There aren’t many races that I am hellbent on running, but this one is.

And here are a few of the reasons why.
