QT: Lessons Learned from Running One Marathon Per Month in 2019
In 2019, I set the goal of running one marathon (minimum!) per month.
That is a valid question.
And one that I’ll get to shortly.
In 2019, I set the goal of running one marathon (minimum!) per month.
That is a valid question.
And one that I’ll get to shortly.
Tomorrow, I’ll be releasing my 100th episode of the Diz Runs With podcast.
Getting to 100 is a pretty big achievement. When I started the show, I was planning on continuing to do shows for the foreseeable future but 100 episodes was still something of a mythical land that I didn’t know if I’d ever see.
My Humble Beginning
But I made it.
During the course of recording and editing and contacting guests and responding to questions from listeners and writing show notes and doing all of the other things that are required to keep a podcast alive and kicking, I learned a few things that apply not only to podcasting but to running as well.
So on the eve of a pretty major milestone for me, I’d like to share some of the things I’ve learned with you.
Earlier this week, one of the members of our Facebook “Tribe” shared some of his thoughts after completing his first marathon recently.
I loved his post, and asked him if I could share it here, because I think there are plenty of valuable takeaways for anyone running their first half or full marathon.
So, here are Stephen’s takeaways after his first foray into the land of 26.2.
When he signed up for his first 5k, Bill Culver had no idea what he was getting himself into.

A little over a year later, he has run a lot of races, a lot of miles, and learned a lot of lessons about himself and about running in the process. While some of those lessons have been a little bit painful, both literally and figuratively, he is looking forward to using the knowledge and experiences of 2014 to help him continue to grow and improve as a runner in 2015.
