You’d be forgiven if you thought that Rebecca Tracy might be burning the candle at both ends as she chases an Olympic dream while going through the wringer called med school.

But after talking to her, I think you could make a pretty strong argument that pursuing both demanding passions actually helps her stay balanced and focused one the current task at hand.

Florida 10 Series Lakeland Race Recap

This past weekend, I ran in the inaugural Florida 10 Series race here in Lakeland. The Florida 10 Series is a new series of 10 mile races within the state of Florida where cumulative times over the course of the entire series determines overall winners.

While I’m not running the entire series, I ran the race in Lakeland, which was my first ever 10 miler.

Nothing like a guaranteed PR, eh?

When a Run Is Not About the Run

Last week’s long run was a disaster.

That’s 4:18:54 for 22 miles…

Since I was only 5 weeks out from the Blue Springs Marathon, I wanted to get in the longest run I’d be doing while preparing for my marathon. I decided to shoot for 22ish miles, depending on how I felt and how far my route (that I basically made up on the fly) ended up being. Because Lord knows if I made it back to the car at mile 21, there was no chance I’d end up making it to 21.1, let alone 22.
