A New Kind of Training Group for Runners: The Coterie

I’ve had a lot of people ask me about coaching, and specifically asking if I offer a group coaching program.

I’ve said before, and I still believe, that I don’t like the idea of a one-size-fits-all training plan. And that belief has been a reason that I’ve avoided the idea of a group training program.

But I think I’ve cracked the code.

I’m proud to announce the Coterie to you today.

You can click the video above for some more of the lowdown, but here are a few of the highlights: Read more

Group Training for the 2015 Wine and Dine Half Marathon

When it comes to preparing for a race, what works best for you?

Since runners tend to be social creatures, the group dynamic seems to be pretty popular when it comes to deciding how to train for a race. And if you’re getting ready for the 2015 Wine and Dine Half Marathon, you might want to check out my program.

Why You Need a Plan for Reaching Your Running Goals

Do You Have a Plan for Reaching Your Running Goals?

Goals are good things.

But what good are goals without a plan of action to help achieve success?

Not much.

Why You Need a Plan for Reaching Your Running Goals

If You Fail to Plan, You Plan to Fail

Success is not an accident.

If you want to be successful with your running goals in 2015, you need to come up with a viable plan. For example, my running goal for this year is to run 1300 miles, and I’ve gone less than 20 this month. Why? Just about every day I think about going running, many days I have even wanted to go running, but my “plan” is to run when I get everything done for the day.

Guess what? As a solopreneur, everything is never done, and therefore, the runs haven’t happened as often as I’d like.

So how will I be successful at achieving my goal for the year? It won’t happen by accident, that’s for sure! Read more

Diz Runs With… Denny Krahe

Today I’m going against the grain a little bit and doing a quick run by myself.

Denny Krahe Headshot

One of the “problems” that I have with always having guests to converse with is that I’m not able to communicate as directly with the listeners of the show. So, from time to time, I’m going to do a solo show to be able to speak directly to you guys in an attempt to find out how I can make the show better.

Today, I wanted to take the time to cover two topics: ideas for how to improve the show and some short term goals I have for the show and website as well.

Ideas for Improvement

    • Sporadic Solo Shows
    • A New Intro
    • More Runs with Race Directors
    • More Giveaways

Short Term Goals

The goals are ambitious for sure, but I know they are attainable if I keep pushing forward. Hopefully, you’ll keep listening and sharing the show to help make these goals possible, and push me on towards bigger and better things.

There’s always room for more members of the tribe!

Both the Facebook group and the newsletter provide opportunities that can’t be found anywhere else. You can interact with fellow tribe members on the Facebook group, and stay up to date with future guests on the show via the newsletter, as well as getting some other freebies and offers that aren’t available anywhere else.

Training Plans Are Useless…

“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.”

~Mike Tyson

Sage advice from the former champ. Who would have ever thought Mike Tyson and sage advice could be linked in such fine fashion? Not me, but I think he’s on to something here.

When runners come up with training plans to help them prepare for their next race, they rarely have to worry about literally getting punched in the face.

But the metaphorical fists start flying early and often, and very few people are able to make it from the first day of their plan to race day without getting hit a few times.

Did you plan for that 5 of clubs to the grill? Doubtful. Read more
