Diz Runs With… Maverick Carnegie

On today’s episode, I’m joined by a really cool cat. Maverick Carnegie is a distance runner at heart, but his focus isn’t only on his running right now, even though his goal is to make it to the Olympics in 2016. Read more

Diz Runs With… Lisa Hamilton

On today’s episode of the Diz Runs With podcast, I’m joining running coach, podcaster, and conscious runner Lisa Hamilton for a few easy miles.

1782154_580455605372432_1460987807_nLisa has an amazing story, and I was shocked to learn that she really didn’t start running until she was in college. Since then, however, she’s accomplished quite a bit. Here are a few highlights from our conversation–

  • She grew up as a competitive swimmer in the Virgin Islands
  • Ran cross country in college for “something to do” and was immediately hooked.
  • Suffered through many running related injuries, especially when she was a newer runner.
  • Her worst injury, ironically, wasn’t even from running.
  • Specific muscle groups runners should focus on strengthening and stretching.
  • How to stay in the moment and be a more conscious runner.

If you’d like to further connect with Lisa, make sure you reach out to her and tell her you heard her on the show.

Diz Runs With… Amanda Loudin

On today’s episode of the Diz Runs With podcast, I’m joining running coach Amanda Loudin for a few easy miles to talk about running, life, and everything in between.

IGfinish

During our run, we covered a lot of ground. Here are a few of the highlights:

  • Her favorite race distance is a unique one, since it’s not a distance you can find to race frequently.
  • Got her start as an endurance athlete in a very unique style of triathlon.
  • Her plans of running an ultra marathon (or 2!) in the next year and a half or so.
  • MAF running. What is it and why it’s beneficial.
  • Big, bulky shoes vs. Small, light shoes. The shoe debate continues!

My conversation with Amanda was a great one, and I know that I learned a lot from her, especially about MAF training. I’m not sure I have the patience to implement it, but I really like the idea of it and how it can really lay the foundation for improvement for any runner.

If you’d like more information about MAF training, I’d definitely suggest you connect with Amanda. She’s always willing to talk with runners about anything, and I know she can answer any questions that you might have.

Diz Runs With… Vanessa Runs

On today’s run, I’m joining Vanessa Runs on the trails out in sunny Southern California. If you’ve never heard of Vanessa before, you are in for a treat.

Vanessa is living the kind of life that you’re either repulsed by or completely jealous of–traveling around North America in an RV with her boyfriend, dog, and cat, and stopping to run whenever they feel like it.

We obviously talked a lot about her nomadic lifestyle during our run, but we covered a number of other topics as well. Some of the highlights include:

  • The process of going from a “normal” life to being a modern day nomad.
  • How friends and family reacted to the news.
  • The positives and negatives of living in an RV.
  • Her first book, Amazon best-seller Summit Seeker, the book she’s working on now, and plans for future books.
  • Her experience with Mount Marathon in Seward, Alaska.

If you want to find out more about what Vanessa is doing, feel free to find her in a variety of places online. And don’t be afraid to reach out to her with any questions or comments that you might have, because she is quick to respond and enjoys the interaction.

Check out her website/blog.

Find her on Facebook, or follow her on Twitter.

On her website, there is a link to Amazon to buy her book. If you want to save a step, just click here to buy Summit Seeker.
