You Can't Handle the Truth

QT: Is It Worth It? Feetures Elite and Freetrain V1

One of the perks of my job is that, from time to time, companies will send me goodies to use/try/have in hopes that I’ll give a glowing review of their products either here, on the podcast, or on the social medias.

I appreciate getting to try some stuff, but one thing that I’m 100% firm about is that I will only speak honestly about the products that I receive.

You Can't Handle the Truth

If a company wants me to talk about their product favorably? Make a good product.

Send me something that sucks? I’ll tell my audience it sucks.

Pretty straight forward, eh?

Get ready, because I’m about to unleash some truth today y’all. Read more

My Take: The 2019 Cannonball Marathon

Last weekend, at least as this post/episode was released, I hit the road and headed north to Greensboro, NC, for the Cannonball Marathon.

As a reminder, I’m not one for writing a detailed race recap of my performance on race day. So if that’s what you’re looking for…

Sorry

Yeah, I’m not really that sorry.

What I am up for doing is sharing my perspective on the Cannonball Marathon, while it’s still fresh in my mind, as someone that has run the race.

What things does this race get right? Where could they improve?

So that’s what I’m doing today.

I’m giving the basics below, but the podcast will have much more detail (ie I’ll probably be rambling like a mofo). So if you want the full scoop, make sure you press play above!

QT: Look Back on Your Past Before Moving Forward to the Future

When I was younger, my favorite thing about the end of the year was the annual “best videos of the year” countdowns on MTV and VH1.

Judging by the lack of music videos shown on either channel these days, I’d say it’s safe to assume they don’t look back at the year’s best videos anymore, eh?

I Digress

As the new year approaches, I’m legitimately excited for what is in store.

I have big plans (and goals) for my running, for my business, and (most importantly) for my family.

I’m guessing that you probably have some goals in mind for the new year as well, yes?

Shoe Review: The Altra Instinct 3.5 (with Video)

I have a long relationship the Altra Instinct running shoes.

My first pair of Altra’s were the Original Instincts, the 1.0s, and I LOVED those shoes!

Altra Instinct 1.0

I Was a “Little” Excited to Get My 2nd Pair of 1.0s

I kept buying them until my size was no longer available, and I still have a pair that only has a few hundred miles of wear that I put on for a short run from time to time.

When I could no longer get my hands on a pair of the originals, I made the move to a newer (at the time) model of my beloved shoe, the Instinct 2.0. And let’s just say that I wasn’t fond of the updates that had been made to the original model.

So now, after a couple of years away from my beloved Instincts and lots of good reports from my fellow Altra Ambassadors, I decided to give the newest iteration a shot.

A Shoe Review: The Altra Provision 2.0

The Altra Provision 2.0 is a solid shoe, but if you’re a fan of the Provision 1.5 you may be disappointed.

The newest version of the Provision is noticeably thicker in the sole of the shoe, and for someone that prefers less cushioning, that was a bit of a disappointment.

Though to be fair, the Altra Provision 2.0 is labeled as a moderately cushioned shoe (which I point out in the video), so I’m not sure that Altra deserves a lot of blame here. However, the Provision 1.5 was also labeled as a moderately cushioned shoe, so…

That said, if you don’t mind a little bit of foam under your feet, the Altra Provision 2.0 definitely provides a smooth ride while still staying true to the Altra selling points: foot shaped toe box and zero heel drop.

I’ve already put a few hundred miles on my 2.0s, and I’d estimate I’ve still got a few hundred to go before this pair will need to be replaced, so durability is definitely not an issue.

Check out the video for more details about my experience in the Altra Provision 2.0s, as well as to hear my overall grade of the shoe.
