Michelle Walker is kind of a super hero.

This mother of six kids has run 115 marathons (as of our original chat in December of 2015), run a marathon on every continent, and run a sub-4 hour marathon in each of the 50 states.

Allow that to sink in for a minute.

Michelle is an incredible woman, and I really enjoyed talking with her about running and traveling. She’s done a lot of things that I hope to do as I continue on my running journey, so she’s definitely a role model of mine!

What They Don’t Tell You About WDW Marathon Weekend

I can still remember back to 2010, the year I ran my first runDisney race–the full marathon during the WDW Marathon Weekend.

I remember going to the expo, feeling completely lost but eventually finding my way to get my bib and race shirt, before literally reading every word that was written about what to do on the morning of the race.

After running the race, however, I realized there were quite a few things that they didn’t tell me about making the most of out of the WDW Marathon Weekend and some of what they did say was complete BS.

I’m taking this year’s WDW Marathon Weekend off, but having run either the full or the half in each of the past 4 years, I’ve got a pretty good handle on what one needs to do in order to successfully navigate the expo, get to the starting line, finish the race, and enjoy the parks afterward.

If you’re running any of the WDW Marathon Weekend races this year, I hope this helps and that you have a great race.

And if you’re running the full on Sunday, there’s a pretty good chance I’ll be watching outside of the Studios. Look for the beard and make sure to say hi!

Diz Runs With… Amy Hughes

On this episode of the Diz Runs With podcast, I’m chatting with Amy Hughes who recently completed an astounding 53 marathons in 53 different cities in 53 days!

Amy Hughes, 53:53, 53 Marathons

Amy Hughes

Obviously that’s a pretty amazing feat, but what is most incredible to me is that she did all this running for causes way bigger than any person! Her mission was two-fold, to bring attention to the importance of physical activity for children and to raise awareness and funding for the Isabelle Lottie Foundation. Read more

A Wine and Dine Chat

The Wine and Dine Half Marathon is coming up quick, and I for one, am super excited that the race will be here in just a few more weeks!

This race is easily my favorite runDisney event that I’ve run, and I look forward to the race every year. I’ve run the race every year that it has been in existence, and I’m looking forward to making it a perfect 5 for 5 this year.

Looking Forward to Another Wine and Dine Half!

A few highlights from our run–

  • The electric atmosphere of the 2014 Boston Marathon
  • Mark’s favorite rules from his book, The Runner’s Rule Book.
  • The best and worst parts of working for Runner’s World.
  • There is a sequel to The Runner’s Rule Book in the works, stay tuned for more updates!

10441418_787953677905460_7335061232884571890_nWe also talked about how awesome Meb and Shalane ran at Boston this year. For Meb to win Boston this year, because of the events of 2013, was so amazing. And the fact that Shalane pushed the pace and PR’d by 3 minutes shows not only how tough she is, but also how she ran a perfect race.

Mark even mentioned a picture that he has on his Facebook page that would suggest that Ms. Flanagan is a fan of the Remy’s World Blog.
