Tina Muir Gave Up Running at the Highest Level to Improve Her Health
Today I’m going a few easy miles with a runner that walked away from the sport after competing on the world stage.

Tina Muir
Tina Muir is our returning guest today, after first appearing on the show back in episode 239.
When we first chatted, we covered her struggles with the marathon, training at the elite level, and much more.
Since then, however, running and life have changed dramatically for Tina in a number of ways.
Walking Away
After Tina realized a lifelong goal of running for her country, she found herself starting to check out mentally.
This was going on for many months, but Tina tried to ignore it and continue pushing ahead.
Eventually, Tina realized she couldn’t keep running this way, so she walked away from the sport.
The decision wasn’t easy and was not one she took lightly.
Not long after taking a break from running, Tina found out that she was pregnant! For obvious reasons, the blessing of a baby further helped Tina focus on her overall health beyond the sport that she loves.

Never too far
Even though she is not running competitively at the moment, Tina is still in and around the sport she loves on a daily basis.
Tina has a new podcast and she also coaches/consults with other runners.
She believes that one of the best ways for her to help other runners is to share her experiences in an open and honest way.
It’s not always pretty, but it’s real. Tina faces many of the same struggles that many of us experience on a regular basis.
And, for me at least, it’s comforting to know that the elites deal with some of the same struggles as “regular” runners like myself.
