Chris Wehrman Can Help Anyone Run Better Through The Use Of An App
My guest today has experienced a lot of success in running with two Olympic qualifying times, three 2nd place marathon finishes and numerous wins at shorter distances.
Through coaching and the development of a new app this runner turned entrepreneur is doing his best to help runners in the pursuit of their running goals.

Chris Wehrman
I am excited to go a few easy miles with Chris Wehrman as we dive into how this app can help make preparing for some big races a bit easier.
Naturally Competitive
Chris Werhman is no stranger to running and competing at a high level.
Running came naturally to Chris from a young age.
His competitive drive led him to become an Olympic Trials Qualifier two times along with multiple podium finishes over the years.
Chris was not immune to experiencing setbacks.
The average runner may be discouraged by a setback, but not Chris.
Each of his obstacles along the way helped to prolong his career by keeping him engaged in the sport.
Chris recognized that running at a high level wouldn’t last forever.
In 2008, he made the decision to retire from competitive running to focus on his family and career.
From Athlete To Coach

Chris Wehrman
For Chris transitioning from a competitive runner to a coach was a natural progression.
One of his favorite parts of coaching is helping to instill confidence in his athletes.
Years of running marathons has made Chris a knowledgeable source on how to approach the distance.
Some of his most valuable tips for current and future marathoners are:
- Write out a plan 3-5 weeks in advance.
- Don’t over complicate the plan.
- Discuss weather variables as it relates to the plan, but don’t stress about what you can’t control.
- Stay behind someone slower the first 2 miles of the race to ensure you don’t go out too fast.
- Expect to have to adjust the plan mid-race.
- Focus on effort and not solely on pace.
- Use others around you to help push you.
Just because you may be having a bad moment in a race doesn’t mean the entire race will be bad.
It was through the connections Chris made coaching, that he met his future partners for his business endeavor.
Run Better
As a coach and a runner, Chris was aware that it wasn’t always easy to prepare for a race depending on where one lived.
Treadmills are a necessity for some people when trying to prepare for races.
Chris and his partners had an idea to make training on a treadmill more interesting as well as specific to certain courses.
The Run Better App was developed as a way to run top race courses of all distances on the treadmill.
Each course is broken into segments, so the athlete has the option to pick and choose what portions to run along with distance.
By downloading the app, you can try one course for free or pay a monthly subscription to gain access to all the courses.
Currently, the app is only available for Apple phones, but they are also working on Androids for the future.
The app also includes specific training programs that incorporate the use of the treadmill.
