Listener Question and Answer–February 2015
It’s the end of the month, and you know what that means…Time for another Listener Q&A episode!
This month was a little light on questions, but that’s ok. Short and sweet isn’t that bad!
Just a reminder, but the best way to get your questions answered is to join the Diz Runs FB group since I’ll post a call for questions about a week before I record each Q&A episode.
Let’s get down to the questions for February.
- “I want to include circuit training into my routine. Should I do it before I run or after?”
- “I’m training for my first marathon, and got the flu. What do I do about the days of training that I missed?
- “How does a spouse/partner keep their sanity while their significant other is running all the time?”
- “Stability shoes–good, bad, or indifferent?”
- “What non-running podcasts are you listening to?”
- “What is the next race on your schedule?”
And that’s that!

Both the Facebook group and the email group provide opportunities that can’t be found anywhere else.
The Facebook group is still small, but it is a great way to connect with fellow runners and foster community amongst like minded individuals. The email group is THE way to stay up to date about future guests on the show, as well as getting some other freebies and offers that aren’t available to anyone else.
If you’ve got questions about either/both, just let me know!
First time listening to the Q&A episode and liked it. Knowing that you’re looking for a smallish, local fall marathon, I’ll recommend the Rimrock Marathon in Grand Junction, Colorado in November. I know Colorado has a lot of races to choose from and with Boulder & Durango being the running Meccas that they are, Grand Junction may not be the sexiest choice. But the Colorado National Monument is gorgeous and the Rimrock runs right up and over it. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Angela! I definitely like the smaller races, and feel like they are sexy in their own right, so I’ll keep Rimrock in mind.
I’m mostly replying to this so I can subscribe to get new posts by email (I can’t figure out how to do that without commenting!). I did want to thank you, though, for (sort of) answering my question about blood pressure and HR zone training in your January Q&A episode. I need to find a doctor who understands about running training – the ones I’ve seen purse their lips when I tell them I run, and start to lecture me when I tell them I *train* to run better. Ill-educated, impatient, ignorant. I despise doctors, broadly speaking. They’re one of the most overrated professions here in Australia – and my MIL is one.
Which is all to say – I do understand that you “dodged” the question 🙂 LOL I don’t mind at all, and your recommendation to bump the zone brackets up is what I had concluded. It’s good to know I wasn’t being totally crazy. Thanks, Denny 🙂
Hey Kat!
Sorry I couldn’t give you a better answer to your question, but I couldn’t make any “do this” type of proclamation without knowing much more detail about your situation.
I took the “subscribe to the blog via email” spot off the blog, but I will go ahead and put it back on. I was trying to clean things up a little bit, but knowing that you were looking for it shows that it was something that needs to be there.
Don’t worry about signing up though, I’ll handle it for you!
You’re a legend, thanks Danny!
