James Lacher is Proud to Be Half the Man He Used to Be

Today I’m going a few easy miles with an athlete that is the epitome of hard work and consistency.

James Lacher, First 13.1

James Lacher After His First 13.1

James Lacher is, literally, half the man he was just a couple of years ago.

At his heavest, he weight over 400 pounds. Now, he’s on the other side of 200 pounds and recently finished his first half marathon!

 His “Final” Chance

James fought his fluctuating weight throughout his 20’s and into his 30’s; he gained nearly 200 pounds in those 10 years.

After a  new job provided him with health insurance, James started the process that ultimately led to having bariatric surgery.

Habits that had been developed over a lifetime had to be changed in order for James to be successful

In the next year, James dropped nearly 150 lbs!

Healthier and Happier

Before the surgery, doctors told James he needed to lose some weight in order to even have the procedure.

James started walking, and before long he was able to have the surgery that helped him lose much of the weight.

The process hasn’t always been easy, as you would expect, but by being consistent with the choices he was making the weight has come off and stayed off.

As his weight continued to trend downward, James started to add some running segments to his walking.

Pretty soon, he signed up for his first race and the rest has been history!
