Jessica Bagley is on a Fitness Journey With No Destination

Today I am going a few easy miles with Jessica Bagley.

Jessica Bagley

Jessica is a mom of 4 with a passion for running really far as often as possible.

Her fitness journey is a moving target that keeps propelling her forward.

Running To Find Herself

Jessica’s love affair with running has had its ups and downs.

In high school she ran track and was a soccer player, but by college she was burnt out and didn’t run another step for 4 years.

Marriage and motherhood followed shortly after college which again forced running to take a back seat to other responsibilities.

After having her fourth child, Jessica began running again.

Looking back, Jessica realized she was running as a way to gain more confidence.

Ultimately she did obtain the “perfect” body and a marathon finish yet she still wasn’t happy.

Now when she runs, she does it from a place of confidence.

She has become less rigid with her training and eating and gained 30 pounds.

Her running has flourished and she is more capable and running farther than ever.

Self Worth

When posting before and after photos, most people put the skinnier picture as the after.

Jessica did just the opposite and shared her heavier and HAPPIER photo as the after.

There was a collective sigh of relief from the women that saw her post.

If Jessica could be happy with a more attainable body, then maybe they could as well.

Jessica has enough pressure and responsibility in her life and therefore running has to be fun and not another source of stress.

She could do a lot, but couldn’t do everything well. Prioritizing became a must.

Life as a single mom of 4 is busy, so when Jessica has the time to run she fits in all the miles she can.

Her distance PR is 40 miles that she ran unsupported in an attempt to get to 50 miles.

Jessica is currently working with NEO Endurance Sports to plan a spring ultra in South Jersey.

It’s her goal to get more people excited about ultras and make them more approachable.
