Ty Godwin Loves the Boston Marathon

Ty Godwin Made Boston Qualifying His Goal, and He Didn’t Stop Once He Hit the Mark!

Ty Godwin has accomplished some things in running that I definitely hope to achieve in the future, specifically qualifying for and running in Boston, so in chatting with him today hopefully I’ll be able to learn a few things to help me get to Hopkinton.

While Ty is definitely a big fan of the Boston Marathon, and you know where I stand on that race, we didn’t talk exclusively about what it takes to get to Boston on Patriot’s Day.

We spent some time talking about how he got into running, a comparison between running and blackjack, running while traveling, struggles (past and present) with injuries, and a whole lot more.

And we talked about Boston, obviously! Read more

Nora Bird

Nora Bird is Going Off-Road in 2016 & Running the Leadville 100, Because Why Not?

On today’s show, I’m going a few easy miles with Nora Bird.

When Nora got into running, she definitely jumped into the deep end! We talked about her foray into our sport, and how she quickly went from training for her first half marathon to running her first ultra. And in addition to quickly increasing her race distances, she did it all while life was going crazy at the same time.

We also talked about her experience running Boston in 2013 and it’s clear that those wounds are still real for her. Thankfully she wasn’t injured physically when the bombs went off, but the emotional wounds are still healing.

While that is impressive (and enviable) in and of itself, Jessica does it all like so many of us: while balancing a full time job (with a full time commute) and all of the other responsibilities of daily living and training for races. And finding the right balance is one of the things that she’s struggling with, especially when it comes to running marathons which we definitely talked about.

Here are just a few of the highlights from our chat today. Read more

12 Reasons I Can’t Wait to Run the Boston Marathon

With all due respect to the NASCAR fans out there, tomorrow is the true day of the Great American Race.

Boston Marathon

The 119th running of the Boston Marathon is less than 24 hours away, and for the 119th consecutive year I won’t be taking part in the race.

Eventually, come hell or high water, that streak will be coming to an end and I will be toeing the line for the Boston Marathon. There aren’t many races that I am hellbent on running, but this one is.

And here are a few of the reasons why.

Teal Burrell Sets High Goals for Herself, But She Get’s Results

Teal Burrell has witnessed first hand the power of setting big goals.

Teal Burrell

Teal Burrell

Since she started running, she has set some ridiculously lofty goals for herself. And because of that, there are times that small PRs are as disappointing as not PRing at all. But she uses those disappointments as motivation, and typically is able to come back with some really amazing times.

And without setting those big goals in the first place, these amazing times may not have been possible. Read more
