From the time she started running in middle school, she’s always tended excel at the longer distances. As a professional, she continues to excel at the longer distances. Currently, she’s most comfortable in the 50 mile range, but who knows what the future holds in terms of running even longer distances.

During my chat with Emily we talked about her running career to date, continuing to learn about what it takes to run longer distances, the atmosphere surrounded an event like the Olympic Trials, and a whole lot more.

“Consistency, in my mind, is more important than being able to hit a training cycle hard and then being injured or burnt out.” ~Emily Harrison

Maggie Guterl

Maggie Guterl Took On the Best in the World and More Than Held Her Own

Maggie Guterl isn’t the type of person to blow her own horn and brag about her accomplishments, but she is a machine when it comes to ultra distance running.

When I asked Maggie about being a guest on the show, she said she’d do it but didn’t think she was necessarily worthy but that couldn’t be any further from the truth!

To be blunt, Maggie is an absolute beast!

While running for Team USA, she finished 4th at the World Championships and played a huge part in securing a team gold in the women’s 24 hour event. That right there is impressive enough on it’s own, never mind all of the other top finishes in ultra events over the past few years.

We talked about running at the World Championships, the Oil Creek 100, the Barkley Fall classic, and more during our chat today. Here are some of the highlights of today’s conversation. Read more

As a marathoner, his times continue to improve year after year, and his goal is to continue running at a very high level for many years to come.

Ryan Hill

Ryan Hill Smoothly Transitioned from College Star to Elite Pro

Growing up, Ryan Hill was always best in class when it came to running the mile.

And that was just the start.

Ryan Hill

Ryan Hill

After starting to focus on running track in middle school, he steadily improved before becoming one of the top high school runners in his state (and also competing in some national events). After choosing to attend NC State, he steadily improved over his college career, culminating with making a US world team after his senior season.

As a pro, he continues to improve and has shown he belongs in the discussion on the national and international stages.

We talked about how he got his start as a runner, what his racing plans are for 2015, and he also offers some tips for us “regular” runners that I know I can benefit from (and hopefully you can too!). Here are some of the highlights from our chat: Read more
