Thomas Paquette Has Found Lessons In Every High And Every Low
Today my guest on the show is here for a second time to catch up on the highs and lows of 2018.

Thomas Paquette
When a race doesn’t go as planned or setbacks occur he shared his tips for overcoming adversity.
I will go a few easy miles with Thomas Paquette, the head man in charge of the Next Level Running Company.
Patience Is A Virtue
Thomas ran 2 marathon majors in 2018 and each one was a unique experience.
This year was Thomas’s second time running Boston.
Along with thousands of others, Thomas had to adjust his race plans due to the weather conditions.
The historically bad weather in some ways took the pressure off of him to perform.
He was ultimately happy with his performance given the circumstances that were out of his control.
His second major was Chicago where he ran 7 minutes faster than at Boston.
Each marathon training cycle has reinforced the idea of patience during his running journey.
It takes hard work to build up the confidence and fitness to race to the best of his ability.

Overcompensating
Thomas has often struggled with coming off of a big high after a goal race.
To help deal with the low, it helps to get into a routine again and have races on the schedule.
Another low that Thomas experienced this past year was dealing with an injury.
Thomas has learned that when a symptom arises it is often a sign of the body overcompensating elsewhere.
Once the body begins to overcompensate, the issues keep compiling until a solution is found.
Working closely with an Integrated Manual Therapist (IMT) was the solution for Thomas.
Integrated Manual Therapy is a “functional and structural approach to rehabilitation that works with all the systems of the body.”
Thomas now has a much more efficient stride and zero pain due to the addition of IMT along with strength training.

Running Lifestyle
Thomas doesn’t limit running to one facet of his life.
He works at a running store, is a coach, a runner, and writes for a local newspaper on running related topics.
As the owner of Next Level Running, Thomas is able to help runners of all levels.
None of his endeavors feel like work because he truly loves what he does and is passionate about the sport.
Writing for the newspaper was an unexpected opportunity that he couldn’t pass up.
Sharing his love for running has inspired and educated others while making connections.
Thomas won’t rule out eventually completing all of the marathon majors.
In the meantime, he has big goals for his running in the near future.
